Talking Therapy

What is Talking therapy?

A calm, validating space to explore identity, trauma, grief, or overwhelm at your own pace. This is not about quick fixes or being “told what to do.” Instead, it’s about making sense of your experiences and finding ways forward that truly fit you.

In talking therapy, we might focus on:

  • Understanding how trauma or rejection has shaped your sense of self.
  • Exploring the impact of late diagnosis or self-identification as autistic or ADHD.
  • Making space for grief and exhaustion that has gone unspoken.
  • Rebuilding trust in your needs and choices.

My approach

I offer both talking therapy and outdoor / eco-therapy, so you can choose the environment that feels safest and most supportive.

Eco-therapy may be a good fit if you:

  • Feel overwhelmed or confined in traditional therapy rooms.
  • Find calm or grounding when outdoors.
  • Are neurodivergent and want a sensory-aware approach.
  • Live with stress, trauma, or burnout, and need a gentler environment.
  • Want to explore identity and emotions in a less formal space.

Many of my clients are neurodivergent adults, people living with chronic illness or hidden disabilities, and those navigating late autism or ADHD diagnosis. Eco-therapy offers them an option that feels more regulating and supportive than a standard setting.

  • We meet in an agreed outdoor location, such as a park or woodland space that feels safe and accessible.
  • The session begins by crossing a threshold together, just as you would when entering a therapy room, but here it might mean stepping onto a path or choosing a spot to begin.
  • You decide whether to walk, sit, or move between spaces. The pace is always yours.
  • Nature often provides gentle prompts — the sound of water, the change of seasons, the feel of the air — which we can use to reflect on what’s happening for you.

Sessions usually last the same length as talking therapy, and we check in regularly to make sure you feel comfortable.

Clients often notice:

  • A calmer nervous system and reduced stress
  • Feeling more grounded and connected to their body
  • Freedom to unmask without the intensity of eye contact or closed rooms
  • A sense of perspective from being in nature
  • Opportunities to use natural metaphors (seasons, growth, thresholds) to understand their own experiences

Eco-therapy can also help create balance if life feels dominated by screens, routines, or indoor environments.

Eco-therapy is always optional. If outdoors doesn’t feel right for you on a particular day, we can work indoors or online instead. Locations are chosen with accessibility in mind, and we’ll discuss your needs in advance so you feel safe and supported.

Ready to Take the Next Step?

If you’re curious about in-door or eco-therapy, the best way to find out if it’s for you is to try it. We’ll start with a consultation to talk through what you need, what feels safe, and how sessions could work for you.
